Our History

About the Farm: 1900 into the 21st century Liberty Prairie Farm was established in the Ft. Russell township near Edwardsville, Illinois in the very early 1900’s.

It was homesteaded by the late Samuel & Elizabeth Morrison.

Early on, they and their 3 children, James, Howard, and Elinor, worked the 178 acre dairy and grain farm making it into a great success in the community.

After the death of Samuel and Elizabeth, the farm was bought by Howard Morrison, their middle child and my father. He continued working the farm and adding to its acreage by 246 acres.

He milked dairy cows and harvested grain until his retirement in 1998 at the age of 82.
A few years prior to his retirement in 1995, his daughter and son-in-law, Kevin & Mary Morrison-Price, established a small horse facility on the old farm premises.

It started with about 2 -2 acre paddocks and consisted of 4 horses.
About 2 years later, we added 15 acres, a small barn with 4 stalls, an 88 x 125 sand arena, and 2 paddocks.

In 2007, we were up to a 45 acre large pasture, 2 large paddocks, 2 small side turn out lime lots (all lots have shelters), round pen, small “play pasture” with horse toys, 88 x 125 sand arena, and a seven stall barn and about 200 acres of trails.

In 2012 we expanded our facility to include a large lighted indoor arena & round pen.  We will also be adding a climate controlled viewing room for visitors, and a extra large tack room for students.

We are constantly growing and improving our farm without forgetting our small town values and commitments. We pride ourselves on our hospitality and home style atmosphere making everyone who visits feel like they are part of the family. For more information, please contact us.
